John was a named beneficiary in the Will (or Codicil) of Edmund Dummer dated 9 May 1724 Codicil: "Whereas since making my will I have had two children by me begotten of the body of my wife, now living, viz. John and Elizabeth, said John, being the child of which my wife was then enceinte, will now inherit my estate, ...1 John Dummer was a witness when Thomas Dummer Esq. Journeyed with his son Thomas Lee and nephew John, arriving in State livery coach drawn by six horses - he spend the day there circa 1730 in Bishopstoke, County of Southampton, ENG.2 John Dummer was educated on 23 November 1738 in Oxford, OXF, ENG; Matriculated.1 John died on 5 February 1749 at age 28.3 John was buried on 14 February 1749 in South Stoneham, HAM, ENG.3 Administation of John's estate was granted in Canterbury, KEN, ENG, on 17 March 1748/49 His estates, which where very considerable, went to his two surviving sisters, as his next heirs. He left no Will, but letters of administration were granted by the PCC to his sister Elizabeth Knightley, his mother Mrs Bond having renounced administration.1
